My Name is Lea, my husband is Chris. We have 2 young boys. Back about 4 years ago we had to rehome our Bullmastif due to he needed more room to run. We were working long hours and time just was not enough for Brutus. That was very hard on the kids. Months later we went looking for the next family pet. After looking at different dogs, the only one that would take to the kids were the pugs. I remember one time saying they would not be a dog I could have. They never seemed to interest me. But, Shilow made a place in our hearts.
When we brought her home it was pure love for the pugs. She was so cute, made the days calm. She had that personality that would make a mark on the months to come. She was little enough that she did not knock the kids over, sturdy enough that they could not hurt her while playing. Had more energy than they did, and when they would fall she would be right their next to them to make sure they were ok.
You know you have the right family dog when your kids will sit and watch TV and the dog is on the blinket watching with them. Sometimes falling asleep next to them, getting up each time they make any sudden move.
As Shilow got bigger the kids said lets get a friend for her. We though that if she had a friend during the day she would not get lonely while we were at work. We started looking, as we had a fawn and the black pug which at the time was so rare to find we searched for the one to add to our family. The night before easter we got a babysitter for the kids, drove 2 1/2 hours and brought the little boy home. On the way up we passed 3 hair salons with Nicco in the name. The more we thought about it that was a perfect name for the little guy. Then when we met the parents Her name being Nikki and daddy being Mason, we were set. Nicco Mason was brought home.
We went and picked up the kids and brought them home. They were sleeping at the time, once they were put to bed we brought in the puppy and put him in our room for the night. We were so antious to see the kids reaction that at midnight though we were not going to wake them up............ we did!
They were extremely happy, and wanted Nicco to sleep with them. We told them that Nicco would stay in our room so if he cries we could take him outside.
As they got older we started looking in to possibly having a litter. We spoke with many breeders and read alot about pugs online. We talked to our vet and got his input and still do.
After the first litter was born and we raised them for 9 weeks, the kids realized they would be leaving the home to new home. That was very hard for them, they got really attached but knew most were going home to familys with kids their own age.
The Pug Fever grew. Soon Nana added a pug to her family, Her name is Rosie! She is an all black female, loves to play and have fun.
As we though we were out of raising the puppies and adding to our family one more final pug entered our life. Cloe just tilted her eyes and we were hooked. No one can have just one I can hear in my ears.....
They are hard to say no to. You love to spend time with them and they have been the best dog if you are looking for a small family dog.
We have had a few litters, gained lots of new extended pug family and friends. We can not seem to walk by a pug w/o saying Hi to the owners. If that is not enough we have gone to our license plates saying "GOTPUGS" AND "PUGS4U".
We welcome your comments and questions, please visit our sight and pass it on to friends and family. We are in the early stages of building the sight and will be adding more as the days and weeks go on. Please check back for updates.
